      About the Role

      We are seeking passionate and motivated Environmental Engineers / Sustainability Experts to support environmental protection, climate resilience, and sustainability performance across projects and operations. This role is open to (Bachelor’s or Master’s) with on site technical  experienced professionals, offering opportunities to grow and contribute to meaningful impact.

      You will work on environmental assessments, compliance support, sustainability initiatives, carbon reduction, and ESG-related activities depending on your experience level. Training and mentoring will be provided for entry-level hires.


      We are seeking a highly experienced Environmental Engineer with strong technical expertise in waste water management, landfill engineering, and environmental control systems.

      This is a senior-level technical position requiring substantial hands-on, site-based experience in landfill, industrial, mining, construction, or wastewater environments. The role combines advanced engineering capabilities with international project exposure, including donor-funded infrastructure projects (e.g. World Bank and other multilateral development banks).

      In addition to technical project execution, the expert will contribute environmental input to tenders, proposals, ESG reporting processes, and project documentation.


      Key Responsibilities

      Waste Water & Landfill Engineering

      • Lead and support the design and technical review of waste water management systems (industrial, municipal, and landfill-related).
      • Lead and support landfill planning and engineering design (MSW, hazardous, industrial waste facilities).
      • Develop and review:
        • Liner systems (HDPE, clay, composite liner systems)
        • Leachate collection and treatment systems
        • Landfill gas (LFG) extraction and control systems
        • Stormwater management and drainage systems
      • Conduct waste characterization and waste acceptance assessments.
      • Support landfill closure and post-closure planning.
      • Assess environmental risks related to groundwater, soil contamination, wastewater discharge, and air emissions.
      • Develop mitigation and remediation strategies where required.

      Environmental Monitoring, Compliance & ESG

      • Supervise environmental monitoring programs (groundwater, leachate, landfill gas, wastewater discharge).
      • Ensure compliance with EU Landfill Directive and applicable international environmental regulations.
      • Support preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and environmental permit documentation.
      • Contribute to ESG reporting processes related to environmental performance and risk mitigation.
      • Provide environmental input to sustainability frameworks and environmental risk management strategies.
      • Support environmental audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.

      Tender & Donor-Funded Project Support

      • Contribute technical environmental content to tenders, proposals, and project documentation.
      • Prepare environmental sections for donor-funded infrastructure projects (e.g. World Bank, EBRD, ADB, or similar institutions).
      • Ensure alignment with donor environmental and social safeguard requirements.
      • Support environmental due diligence processes.
      • Provide technical expertise during project implementation and supervision missions.
      • Contribute to risk assessment and mitigation planning in line with international development bank standards.

      Strategic & Technical Contribution

      • Provide senior technical advice to project teams and stakeholders.
      • Contribute to environmental strategy development and risk management frameworks.
      • Evaluate innovative waste water and landfill technologies.
      • Support continuous improvement of waste management and treatment practices.
      • Strengthen internal environmental engineering standards and documentation quality.

      Required Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
      • Minimum 8–10+ years of relevant on-site technical experience.
      • Proven experience in landfill design and operations.
      • Demonstrated experience in waste water management systems.
      • Languages in at least one of the following sectors:
        • Mining
        • Construction
        • Industrial waste management
        • Wastewater treatment
      • Languages working on donor-funded infrastructure projects (World Bank or other multilateral development banks preferred).
      • Strong technical understanding of:
        • Landfill liner systems
        • Leachate management
        • Landfill gas control
        • Environmental risk mitigation
        • Waste water treatment processes

      Technical Skills
